Conflict incidents on the map

Each dot is one incident recorded by UCDP, sized by its best death estimate. The regions are shaded by how many violent news reports GDELT machine-read for them. GDELT counts news reports, not incidents, and reports cluster in capitals (Bamako, Niamey, Ouagadougou). Hover a dot for three lines; click it to open the incident in a new tab.
